BASES: 9th National Selection Conference of EYP – Ukraine

This is the 9th time the NGO “European Youth Parliament – Ukraine”  was holding the National Selection Conference. This year the conference took place in one of the most ancient Ukrainian cities – Lutsk. There, from 11th to 15th of August active youth from all over Ukraine and fourteen European countries gathered in order to discuss urgent peace problems on the European continent under the theme “United for Peace”.

During five days 100 participants aged from 15 to 24 under the supervision of 40 experienced representatives of European Youth Parliament from all over the Europe were working on solutions to the urgent problems of nowadays and took part in the heated debates. The results of their cooperation was reflected in the motions for resolutions highlighting the ideas of young people regarding the problems of energy and food safety, personal data protection, improvement of European security strategy, establishment of peace in the conflict areas of Eastern Europe and Southern Caucasus, EU’s migration policy, provision of the high level of school education and reduction of the influence of short-term effects of Ukraine-EU Free Trade Agreement with regard to small and medium businesses.

 

The conference was presided by Noura Berrouba from Sweden, together with the team of experienced moderators. The organsing team, comprised of 13 organisers, was headed by Kostyantyn Lyabuk and Dmytro Zinchuk from Lutsk. “EYP is an unique educational project, establishing connections between youth all over the Europe”, – says the President of EYP-Ukraine Kristina Chelmakina“This is not only an exchange of cultural experience, but also an important tool in building mutual peaceful future. Maybe today participants have not contributed a lot in establishment of peace in the whole world or in their local neighbourhoods. However, they have undoubtedly contributed to their personal growth in order to become concious citizens and wise leaders of their countries. Don’t stop on what you have already achieved, always demand more. Don’t go with the stream, demand better. Don’t accept military conflicts, demand peace.”
