The 53rd International Session of the European Youth Parliament has a special programme on human rights violations in the present and past of Europe. Throughout the session, all participants will have an opportunity to join workshops on human rights and on European history. As a special highlight, every committee will have a chance to meet and discuss the topic with Ukrainian time witnesses of human rights violations.
The research and preparation for the session will be of benefit, both to you personally and to the quality of the session as a whole. Remember the concept of EYP and benefit from this unique learning experience that you have before you. Committee Work and General Assembly are the basis and highlight of every Session so please be aware of the seriousness and importance of being active and well prepared for both events.

“Human Rights Workshop” – October 15th, Sunday afternoon
The participants do a workshop on the basis of the information that they have researched on their project (part 1c). They analyse current Human Right Violations in Europe, gather information on the reactions to these and learn about the different institutions that exist to promote Human Rights in Europe and the World. (Exercises will be prepared in the Chairstraining and following the methods of the Human Rights Compass).
“History Workshop” – October 17th, Tuesday evening
The participants do a workshop on the basis of the information that they have gathered in their research project b). The aim is to prepare the committees for the time witness hearing on Thursday. Therefore, a Ukrainian Organiser will come into the group to give a background of the history of the person that they will meet. The situation will be analysed and discussed. Questions will be prepared, appropriate behaviour etc. for the time witness encounter will be worked out.
“Time Witness Encounters” – October 19th, Thursday morning
Prepared by their own research and by the History workshop, the participants meet time witnesses from Ukraine and get in touch with important parts of Ukrainian history and Human rights violations in Ukraine. They hear stories; learn about historical circumstances of the series of violations and see how particular violation of human rights has marked the persons they meet.
