Europe Days in Ukraine: This Year EYP-Ukraine Celebrated in Kyiv, Ternopil and Kryvyi Rih!

On May 16, May 23 and May 30, 2009 young volunteers coordinated by ‘European Youth Parliament – Ukraine’ celebrated Europe Day in three beautiful cities of Ukraine – Kyiv, Ternopil and Kryvyi Rih. This year, as all previous years since 2003, EYP-Ukraine has successfully acted as a youth NGO partner of the European Commission Delegation to Ukraine recruiting and coordinating volunteers to work in the tents of the European countries, public debates and language schools.
The celebrations started from Kyiv; although this year the Eurovillage welcomed guests only for three hours, everyone who came to Khreshchatyk had the chance to visit the tents of many European countries, speak to the embassy representatives and receive interesting information as well as try themselves in different quizzes conducted by volunteers.
One week later the Eurovillage moved to the western part of Ukraine – Ternopil. The celebration of the Europe Day has started with the performances of the local musicians followed by the official speeches of the Head of the EC Delegation to Ukraine and Ternopil city officials. Couple of hours later it started raining heavily and all visitors of the Eurovillage hided in the tents: and then the European integration in Ternopil started to be extremely active: the rain made nations much closer to each other. In the evening Eurovillage closed and S.K.A.Y. and Ruslana’s performances followed.
The last to welcome European countries, but absolutely not the least – was Kryvyi Rih. The celebration of the Europe Day was organized on the same day when people from Kryvyi Rih celebrated the City Day. Here, in the longest city of Europe the Eurovillage was combined with a parade dedicated to the local holiday what made the celebration really spectaculous. The celebrations ended with the concert of Lithuanian band InCulto and Ruslana.
